Invisible, perhaps, but real. The Holy Spirit is probably the least understood person of the Trinity. Among the myths and the mistaken concepts that are shared, He has been described as a force, a ghost, and a second-class or replacement god. He is confused with the manifestations themselves, and has even been presented as an incidental figure that appears momentarily. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is vital for the church to know the Spirit, learn to relate to Him, and understand how He manifests Himself.


Who is the Holy Spirit?Our first encounter with the Holy Spirit is when He convicts us of our sin, shows us that none of us can live up to the righteousness of Jesus, and reveals to us the judgment that is coming to those who die without a Savior (John 16:8-11). As we repent, confess our sins, and receive the gift of Salvation, the Holy Spirit regenerates our dead inner human spirit, which now becomes sensitive to the spiritual things of God (John 3:1-16; Acts 2:38).There is a second work of the Holy Spirit when He baptizes a believer (Acts 2:1-4). It's available to all (Acts 2:39) and a gift of empowerment, helping the believer to live a holy life. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Helper, we become more like Jesus and are directed to do the Father's will. Furthermore, the gift is primarily for the empowerment to witness to others (Acts 1:8).We are encouraged to ask the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. When you feel depleted or need strength, ask Him to replenish you (Ephesians 5:18).It's not enough to exist with the belief that The Father and the Son are first and the Holy Spirit is secondary. They are equal and work in harmony with each other. The uniqueness of the Holy Spirit is His presence within us. Jesus said before he ascended to heaven that the Holy Spirit would come and dwell within us as believers. With that, He empowers us to live victoriously for the cause of Christ and the glory of the Father.

The Holy Spirit and a Fruitful LifeThe power of the Holy Spirit allows us to reject those old sinful desires. We can say “no” to sin and accept the “way out” God faithfully provides (1 Corinthians 10:13) by following the Holy Spirit’s leading. As we give the Spirit more control of our lives, He begins to do in and through us what He can do - to shape us and grow us to look like the Lord Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). 


The result of the Holy Spirit is much fruit, influencing your words and thoughts to stray from acts of the flesh.Since the Heavenly Father's goal for all His children is for us to be like Jesus (Romans 8:29), the Holy Spirit constantly works to rid our lives of the “acts of the sinful nature” (Gal 5:19) and pride taught by false teachers to display His fruit instead. Therefore, the presence of the “fruit of the Holy Spirit” is evidence that our character is becoming more like Christ’s. 


The Holy Spirit produces much fruit, influencing your words and thoughts to stray from acts of the flesh. The fruits of the Holy Spirit serve as evidence of the spiritual maturity and alignment with God's will in a Christian's life. This means applying the teachings of the Lord Jesus to allow the work of the Holy Spirit.


The Holy Spirit gives believers the power to live like Jesus and be bold witnesses for him. Of course, there are many ways he goes about doing this, so we’re going to talk about the most common ones.


Bible Verses about Walking in the Spirit"And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them" ."Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud" ."For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. 

Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them" ."For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit"."Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever" ."Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus"."Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life" (Timothy 1:15-16)."Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. 


With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people" ."Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit" ."At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, 'Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?' Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me" .
